Heineken + Veneno – Tom Raine

Tom is a presenter and radio producer from the North East of England whose journey has taken him around the world and back again. After growing up around classic British punk, indie and folk music, he became immersed in the local music scenes of County Durham and Newcastle, before studying in Edinburgh and getting into radio.

Studying languages at university, his journey took him to Salamanca in Spain and then to São Paulo, where he fell in love with MPB, samba, and baile funk. He returned to the UK prematurely during COVID-19 and created Saudade, a show with an aim to share Brazilian music and culture with a British audience. In 2021 it picked up Best Specialist Music Programme at the Student Radio Awards, beginning a professional radio career.
Based in London, he currently produces radio shows for BBC 6 Music and the BBC World Service and has presented for Voices Radio, EHFM, FreshAir Radio, and Radio Universidad de Salamanca. He also hosts Molho Inglês on Veneno Radio, a show on alternative music from the English-speaking world, presented in Portuguese.
