Show created to expand the boundaries of Veneno! On this series, you will listen to selections and mixes sent from artists and friends that are abroad and can’t come to the studio in São Paulo!

It is with immense pleasure that we feature Ricco at our Casting Call show! Their album “Visitations” will be out via french label Worst Records today.
Ricco is formed by Gil.Barte, head of Kump Records, and HLM38, in charge of house Notte Brigante offer a sinuous collection of mantras melted in light, silver dust and darkness. Each track navigates through ritualistic slow beats, drum'n'bass-ish half tempo incantations and other mystic hybrid forms not so far from Kode 9esque or Shakletonists reminiscences, just to name a few. The titles evoke a spiritual diagonal, from biblical to islamic worlds and arcanes, passing through persian tradition and obscure references hard to decipher. Several interludes, leading to the final Prelude, stand as resting rooms to drown the listener into purifying dark-ambient, where glitches of enlightenment and distants sounds from nature slowly disappear in divine drones.

We’ve conducted an interview with the duo to contextualize their mix and to celebrate the release of “Visitations".
How was the process of producing “Visitations”?
Julien: An exchange of thoughts, something completely immaterial. We called upon spirituality, I think!
Gil.Barte: We worked on our own parts/ideas first, then we put it all together, we tried to build something coherent.
What is the relation between you and Worst Records?
Julien: We figured these guys must have hit the jackpot with their sick festival, loaded with money, so we negotiated a sick deal!
Gil.Barte: We like the vibe and the guys on the label.
We were evolving in a similar musical sphere, had parties together, etc.. So it made sense to us to send them our tracks.
What's your favorite releases of this year?
Julien: I don't know, I listen to a lot of old stuff, I guess. I liked the TNT Roots "Dub Creator" on Bokeh.
Gil.Barte: The Metal Prayers LP on Nyege Nyege Tapes. Huge!
What to expect from 2020?
Julien: Not much more than 2019! Walks with my dog to the river, that's cool for inspiration!
Gil.Barte: New Ricco’s stuff when Julien will find inspiration, and maybe Live shows. Cool music incoming on Kump from Yssue, Maahrt,...
And I’ll launch a new label/experimental collective with friends, called “Meth.o.tapes”. The first tape will be my own LP, out in september.
