Suelen Mesmo
In this edition, LabXP welcomes the researcher and cultural articulator Suelen Melo. In activity since 2014, the young creative works among projects with transformative potential, focusing on the emancipation of invisible groups.
Born in Porto Alegre, Suelen is a founding member of Coletivo Turmalina, which articulates negrx creators in dialogue with research and production of electronic music. Currently, the collective develops research actions and training of its target audience from the contemplation in the Natura Musical notice (2020/2021).
On the dancefloor, DJ Suelen Mesmo travels through multiple references such as r&b, rap, funk, afro beat, afro house in the same set. The research is constant, always highlighting breeders of quebrada, LGBTQIA + and women.
The producer also integrates the labels Neurokat Records and Zona EXP, where it works with project management and fundraising. Zona EXP boosts the production of people from dissident trajectories, being part of a global movement to retake peripheral club electronic music, with a strong national and international network.
In 2020, he started the Carro Chefe CC, a tribute to his uncle and artist Lucas Melo Carro Chief (1992 – 2015) where he concentrates actions aimed at audiovisual and advertising through activities such as formation of non-homogeneous teams (focus on professionals of black descent and LGBTQIA), Executive Production, Art Direction.
